Driving Ahead: mapping the impacts of recycling
22 June 2007 at City Hall, London
The ADVANCE Project presents: Driving Ahead, the ninth North London Recycling Forum, a full day event examining the drivers influencing waste management and the environmental impacts they create. With case studies, workshops and discussions to explore alternatives, Driving Ahead will focus on new approaches to minimising our footprint.
In its sixth year, the Recycling Forum is a lively arena for debate and interaction, and an essential resource for everyone interested in improving the environmental performance of their organisation.
Bringing together commercial, statutory and community-based organisations of all sizes, the Forum highlights best practice, develops partnerships across sectors, and supports the widest possible involvement in waste management and minimisation.
"Driving Ahead" is a full day event of speakers, workshops and discussions, looking at minimising our environmental impacts. Participants include Professor Adam Read of Hyder Consulting, who will look at controversial ways of managing waste and Barry Bolton, chairman of ACM, the first climate neutral waste management company.
In addition to a range of practical and informative workshops, there will be a site tour to the Walbrook Wharf waste transfer station (involves 20 min walk), which sends the City of London’s waste downriver by barge. Spaces on this will be extremely limited, so please indicate when booking if this is of interest.
Attendance is free but booking is essential.
