The Lea Valley and North London

The Lea Valley and North London North London is the perfect location for business. There are thousands of businesses that have chosen North London as their home where there is a wealth of resources to support companies. North London is rich in resources, it is a varied and ethnically diverse sub-region, with large suburbs providing an attractive living environment with many green residential areas, parks, open spaces and Green Belt. There is a good spread of economic activities which retains a significant level of manufacturing industry, with small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) dominating the sub regional business structure.

Looking Forward: The Next 15 years

Over the next 15 years there will be many changes that will lead to a regenerated area with many new jobs created and improvements in housing. The following plans are in place:

• Nearly 160,000 more people are expected to be living in North London by 2016.

• The neighbouring Thames Gateway regeneration area plans to create around 200,000 jobs up to 2016.

• The development of Stansted/M11 corridor is planned to create 40,000 new jobs.

• Regeneration of Stratford and the Lower Lea Valley will have a major impact on the southern and eastern part of the sub region.
